What It Is

NØTEPADS is a sampler instrument that turns your field recordings into playable sound textures. It's the creative companion to NØTE — where NØTE captures, NØTEPADS transforms.

Why It Exists

I kept recording beautiful ambient sounds with NØTE and wanting to play them — to chop them up, layer them, and create something new. But existing samplers felt too clinical, too focused on precision. I wanted something that felt more like finger-painting with sound.

NØTEPADS treats recordings as raw material for improvisation, not surgical editing.

Design Philosophy

NØTEPADS inherits the same instrument-first design language as NØTE. The interface is deliberately constrained — eight pads and a few knobs. The constraint forces creativity. You work with what you have, and the results are always surprising.
