Good Parts: Keep Highlights · Last updated November 4, 2026
The short version
The Good Parts doesn't collect, store or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and the app makes no connections of its own to any server. Your videos are never uploaded.
What the app uses, and why
- Photos. The app reads your videos right where they live in Photos so you can mark and export clips. Nothing is copied into the app. If a video is stored in iCloud, Photos downloads it for the app, the same way it does for any app. Exports are saved back to Photos, in a "Good Parts" album.
- Camera and microphone. Only if you record inside the app. The recording is moved into your Photos library when you stop.
- Location. The app never asks for your location. It reads the place stored in a video you picked, to name a project like "Sat, Sep 27 · Austin" and, if you leave Keep location on, to put the same place on videos you save. To turn a place into a city name, it uses Apple's Maps service on your device's behalf. That request goes to Apple, not to me, and I never see it.
- Files. If you add a song to a video, the file is copied into the app so it keeps working.
- On-device processing. Framing on the player, slow-motion smoothing and any sound analysis run on your device using Apple's frameworks.
What stays on your device
Your projects (the marks you made, which videos they belong to, and your edit choices), your settings, and the times you pressed the Action Button to mark a moment are stored only on your device. None of it is sent to me or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it. Your Photos library is never changed except for the videos you save.
Apple's analytics
If you've chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may give me aggregated, anonymous statistics such as downloads, sessions and crashes. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements › Share With App Developers.
Sharing
When you tap Share, the video goes only where you send it, using Apple's share sheet. I don't receive a copy.
Children
The Good Parts collects no information from anyone, children included.
Changes
If the app ever starts collecting any information, this policy will be updated before that happens, and the change will be noted here.
